OCLC has bowed to pressure and has withdrawn its new WorldCat policy. OCLC will draft a new one with more input from member libraries. The proposed policy had been widely criticized as been too restrictive.
You can read the OCLC News Release and see the current Guidelines for the Use and Transfer of OCLC-Derived Records.

I couldn’t find a comprehensive conference calendar, so I created one. You can view it on the right-side menu.
Direct link: LibraryPros Conference Calendar.
If you have a conference not listed in the calendar, post it in the forums and I will add it.

Although LibraryPros has a blog for important news and updates, the main purpose of this website is to enable collaboration and discussion equally among all members.
So please visit the LibraryPros Forums, register yourself (using your real name, preferably), and start some discussions. The forums are really just launching so please add to a discussion and we can get some activity here.

Welcome to LibraryPros, a new website for Librarians and library professionals to keep up with the news and trends of our profession and to collaborate to share information and answer questions. Make it a regular part of your professional development, networking, and entertainment.
LibraryPros consists of two parts: a blog and the forums. The blog (what you are reading now) contains articles on libraries and librarians in the news, library events, books and authors, online services, and humor and entertainment.
The core of LibraryPros is its discussion forums where you can talk about library issues, pose questions to your colleagues, and help answer the questions of others. And have some fun. There are forums covering all aspects of librarianship: public services, reference, technical services, technology, education, and employment. If you have a library organization in need of a place to collaborate, contact us to set up a separate forum for you.
A principle of Web 2.0 is that the service gets better the more people use it. In order for the discussion forums to be useful, we need your participation. Please take a few minutes to register and do please use your real name, or at least include your name in your signature. Once logged in, look for the “Introduce Yourself” forum and tell us a little about yourself. Have a look around at the forums and post some information, ask a question, or join in some current discussions. Let’s get to know each other, share information, and have a good time with other library pros.
We welcome any comments and suggestions for the blog and forums.
